Participatory Arts-Based Aging and Health Research

Current Project

"Moving through Dementia: Enabling Embodied Creativity of Immigrants Living with Dementia through Culturally Tailored Movement Program"

Moving through Dementia investigates cultural inclusivity and physical accessibility in a participatory dance program by engaging Korean immigrant/Canadian older adults living with dementia and their family caregivers in a series of collaborative creative movement sessions. This study aims to explore how culturally tailored dance experiences can help create an enabling environment for Korean older adults living with dementia (in Calgary, Canada) to express their embodied knowledge, creativity, and cultural identity.
